The Bethel location of indoor park Sky Zone will close after Labor Day weekend.
The announcement was made by owner Ed Kim, who also operates Sky Zones in Norwalk and on Long Island, on the facility”™s Facebook page.
The Bethel operation, which opened in 2014 at 13 Francis J. Clarke Circle, offers trampolines, a foam ball pit, obstacle courses and various other activities. It employed and trained over 300 local workers during its time in Bethel, according to the Facebook post.
Kim said the decision to close came in the face of its underperforming expectations. Although Sky Zone was one of the first operations of its kind in the area, it has faced increased competition over the past few years, including Bounce! Trampoline Park and Thrillz High Flying Adventure Park, both housed in the same building in Danbury.
Still pending is a lawsuit filed against Sky Zone Bethel in May 2018, wherein a man claims he was injured while using one of its trampolines. That suit is scheduled to be heard in Danbury Superior Court next week, but Kim said it was not a factor in the decision to close.
