Fairfield University has named Donald E. Gibson, dean of the Charles F. Dolan School of Business, as vice provost in the Office of Academic Affairs. He will begin his new duties on Sept. 1.
Gibson, who has a Ph.D. in management from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, began his career in academia in 1995 as an assistant professor of organizational behavior at the Yale School of Management. He joined the Fairfield University faculty in 2001 as an associate professor of management. Seven years later he became a professor and was named chairman of the management department. Gibson was named dean of the business school in 2011. He served as special assistant to the provost during several leadership transitions, including the recent appointment of Mark Nemec as the university”™s president.
Outside of the university, Gibson serves as vice chairman of the Council of Churches of Greater Bridgeport.
