The Greater Fairfield County CMLS and Connecticut MLS, which have more than 17,000 members combined, are merging to form one entity, SmartMLS, which will be one of the country’s 20 largest multiple listing services in terms of membership.
Combined, the two groups facilitate more than 30,000 real estate transactions worth more than $13 billion per year, according to a press release. Agent members will now have access to all listings from both listing services and can send clients one set of search results representing 100 percent of inventory.
The merger is expected to benefit from having the advantage of financing to support technology enhancements or other member requests. The Greater Fairfield County CMLS is in Norwalk and Connecticut MLS is based in Wallingford.
The county’s three other multiple listing services are Greenwich MLS, New Canaan MLS and Darien MLS.
