Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics Inc. plans to shutdown its Brookfield factory within three years, laying off roughly 256 employees.
The cuts are apart of a global employee reduction strategy for Siemens, a German engineering and electronics company. Officials at Siemens announced Sunday plans to cut 15,000 jobs globally by the end of the year to save about $8.1 billion.
According to the Hartford Courant, the company plans to consolidate its Brookfield factory into its existing operations in Flanders, N.J. Employees will be offered separation and outplacement benefits. They may also  apply for positions in Flanders.
