Construction of genomics-testing company Sema4”™s second Connecticut lab at Stamford”™s Harbor Landing will begin on Aug. 1.
The 70,000-square-foot facility at 62 Southfield Ave. is scheduled to open next summer and will add about 300 employees to Sema4”™s staff.
The lab was initially announced in April 2018, when Sema4 said it was expanding its headquarters at 333 Ludlow St. in Stamford and its laboratory at 1 Commercial St. in Branford. At that time the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development announced it was providing a $6 million loan to be utilized for the purchase of machinery and equipment, capital improvements, and the creation of 408 jobs in Connecticut.
Gov. Ned Lamont and U.S. Rep Jim Himes will tour the facility with Sema4 executives on Aug. 1.
