BioInc@NYMC, the 1-year-old biotechnology incubator at New York Medical College in Valhalla, has added two startup tenants engaged in therapeutic product research and telehealth services.
Officials at the health sciences college said SHY Therapeutics, a research company, and MediSprout, which provides online video communication between physicians, patients and other health care providers, have joined three other tenants in the incubator. Opened in October 2014, the business incubator occupies a 10,000-square-foot wing at 7 Dana Road, a renovated 129,000-square-foot laboratory and office building on the Valhalla campus.
“In a world full of ever-increasing online interactions,” said Dr. Samant Virk, MediSprout founder and CEO, “MediSprout creates a mutually beneficial outcome that offers access and convenience to patients while creating efficiency and revenue for physicians. It is easy to implement, cost-effective and scalable, and stands out because its connectivity is both a consumer and enterprise-facing solution.”
Yaron Hadari, co-founder and CEO of SHY Therapeutics, in the announcement said “the supportive environment in the incubator will help SHY to develop its future therapeutics products.”
A public-private enterprise funded by state, federal and county government and New York Medical College, the biotech incubator has 4,500 square feet of finished laboratories, offices and shared infrastructure available to tenants. New York Medical College officials said the remaining space will be developed as initial spaces are filled.
