Mickey Herbert to leave as chief executive of Bridgeport Regional Business Council
The Bridgeport Regional Business Council (BRBC) has announced that Mickey Herbert will be stepping down as president and CEO.
The 73-year-old Herbert took over the reins at the BRBC in October 2016 following the retirement of Paul Timpanelli, who held the leadership role since 1988. Herbert, who had served as the BRBC”™s board chairman in 1998 and 1999, stated that his term was always intended to be a two-year tenure.
“It was never the intent that I would work as long as Paul Timpanelli,” Herbert told the Business Journal, noting that he agreed to a two-year term after a search for Timpanelli”™s successor failed to secure a viable candidate. “This was part of the game plan all along.”
Herbert, who has run Michael E. Herbert Consulting since 2010, was formerly president and CEO of ConnectiCare and an executive vice president at that insurer”™s parent company, EmblemHealth, and had also served as president of the Bridgeport Bluefish minor league baseball team.
The BRBC stated that it will begin accepting applications for Herbert”™s successor on April 1 and continue through May 15. Herbert stated he will stay at the organization through Nov. 1. “I”™m hard at work here,” he said.
