Kimball named head of statewide association
Wilson Kimball, president and CEO of the Yonkers Housing Authority (YHA) has been named as executive director of the New York State Public Housing Authority Directors Association (NYSPHADA).
NYSPHADA, based in Hornell, New York, has as its mission, “To be New York state’s leading organization in providing professional development, support and information to organizations that preserve and develop public, affordable and mixed-income housing by providing networking opportunities through communication, training and education.” It advocates for and supports legislation for the operation, preservation, and development of affordable housing.
Kimball will serve in the new role while remaining in her position with the Yonkers Housing Authority (YHA).
“I look forward to continuing my work with NYSPHADA as we grow membership while providing the premiere support services to affordable housing authorities seeking grant opportunities, RAD (Rental Assistance Demonstration) resources and addressing climate resiliency among other issues,” Kimball said.
RAD was created by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in order to give public housing authorities a tool to preserve and improve public housing properties and address the $26 billion dollar nationwide backlog of deferred maintenance at housing authority facilities.
Kimball, has been president and CEO of YHA since 2020. under her leadership, YHA completed the renovation of the more than 1,700 residential units it owns and operates as well as working on two buildings for senior citizens that are designed to meet passive house standards. Kimball had previously served as commissioner of planning and development for Yonkers since 2013. Prior to that she served as senior vice president of operations for the Hugh L. Carey Battery Park City Authority in New York City.
