New stamp to honor Ruth Bader Ginsburg
The U.S. Postal Service is hosting a first-day-of-issue ceremony on Oct. 2 to celebrate the release of its new commemorative stamp honoring the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The ceremony will take place at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Ginsburg is featured wearing black judicial robe and iconic white collar. Ethel Kessler, an art director for USPS, designed the stamp with a portrait by Michael J. Deas based on a photograph by Philip Bermingham. The new stamp is being issued as a Forever stamp in panes of 20 and will always be equal in value to the current First-Class Mail 1-ounce price.
Ginsberg was the second woman appointed to the court and served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court from 1993 until her death in 2020.
