WIHD opens new facility

The Westchester Institute for Human Development, an organization that supports children and adults with disabilities, opened the Hudson Valley Special Education Parent Center in Valhalla on Oct. 29.

The center will serve the seven counties in the lower Hudson Valley region. It will provide resources covering all aspects of the special education process, including preparing parents to meaningfully participate in the Committee on Special Education and the Committee on Preschool Special Education processes. It will also provide disability specific information and information about federal and state mandates, along with information about due process rights and non-adversarial problem-solving strategies.
