WCC president joins Business Council of Westchester board

Belinda S. Miles, Westchester Community College”™s first-year president, has joined The Business Council of Westchester board of directors, the business membership group recently announced.

Miles in January assumed the president”™s post on the Valhalla campus, coming to Westchester from Cleveland, Ohio, where she was provost and executive vice president of Access, Learning, and Success at Cuyahoga Community College.

Raised in Queens, Miles also held faculty and administrative posts in the metropolitan area at LaGuardia Community College, Nassau Community College and Columbia University. She resides in New Rochelle.

Marsha Gordon, president and CEO of the Business Council, in the announcement called Miles “a passionate advocate for education and for supporting students through high-quality academics. As president of one of Westchester County”™s most vital educational institutions, and its most affordable, she is at the forefront of training our business community”™s next generation of workers and leaders.”

Westchester Community College has held a seat on the Business Council board for more than 15 years.

“The Business Council and Westchester Community College have a long and distinguished history of working together, particularly in areas of education and workforce development,” Miles said. “I am pleased to continue this tradition and build on it as both the Business Council and the college embark on important and exciting endeavors together.”
