Verizon reaches tentative agreement with CWA, IBEW

Verizon Communications Inc. on Sept. 19 reached a tentative agreement with the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) on new, three-year contracts for 43,000 East wireline employees.

New York City-based Verizon said in a statement that the agreement was achieve through a lengthy negotiation and mediation process conducted under the auspices of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.

If ratified by the unions, the contract will run through Aug. 1, 2015.
