Mercy College reopens campuses after “unsubstantiated” threat

Mercy College reopened all four of its campuses today after a threat made on Tuesday was found to be “unsubstantiated.”

The college, which has campuses in Dobbs Ferry, Yorktown Heights, Bronx and Manhattan, closed all facilities yesterday after receiving what Mercy College Director of Public Relations Catherine Cioffi described as a “general threat” that required action on all four campuses.

Yorktown Police Department Lt. John LaPlaca said it was a bomb threat left by voicemail.

Mercy College posted the initial announcement canceling all night courses and activities onto its Twitter account at 4:49 p.m. Tuesday.

All campuses are being evacuated due to a threat. All evening class and activities are cancelled today March 8.

Another post to the school”™s Twitter feed, as well as on its website and Facebook page, two hours later called the threat unsubstantiated and announced that the campus had been cleared by law enforcement.

Cioffi said it”™s “business as usual” on all four campuses today.
