Green redevelopment focus of Pace forum

The latest trends in sustainable development and financing of major construction projects will be topics of a June conference sponsored by Pace University and the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Westchester/Fairfield.

The conference, Taking the LEED in Green Development: Pace University”™s Master Plan for Its Pleasantville Campus, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 25 in the Kessel Student Center on the Pleasantville campus at 861 Bedford Road.

The conference will focus on the university’s master plan to reposition its Pleasantville campus. The $100 million project, expected to break ground this summer, is one of the largest development projects in the Hudson Valley region.

Ed McMahon, senior resident fellow and holder of the Charles E. Fraser Chair for Sustainable Development and Environmental Policy at ULI in Washington, D.C., will be the keynote speaker. He will discuss national trends in large-scale redevelopment projects in higher education, focusing on best practices and lessons learned.

Conference panelists will include: David Clemenzi, senior project director at EYP Architecture and Engineering; Andy Tung, partner at Divney Tung Schwalbe L.L.P. in White Plains; Michelle Land, director of Pace Academy for Applied Environmental Studies; Jay Black, director of sustainability at SL Green Realty Corp; Jeff Turner, senior vice president at Brailsford & Dunlavey; Craig Levin, senior project manager at Brailsford & Dunlavey; Tom Brady, Pace University treasurer, and Randall Huffman, attorney at Cuddy & Feder L.L.P. IN White Plains.

In addition to two panel discussions, the conference will include breakfast and lunch and a walking tour of the Pleasantville campus.
