Good Scout Dinner

Good Scout Dinner

More than 150 community and business leaders gathered at Tappan Hill May 19 for the Westchester-Putnam Council, Boy Scouts of America”™s 2010 “Good Scout” Award Dinner.

The “Good Scout” Award is presented to those who exemplify in their daily lives the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law.  The recipients are chosen for their outstanding community service as evidenced by the interest and leadership given to many worthwhile organizations as well as the respect and esteem in which they are held by their colleagues.

Proceeds from the dinner support Scoutreach a program that delivers Scouting to underserved populations in high priority neighborhoods of White Plains, Yonkers, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, Port Chester and Peekskill.  More than 600 boys currently participate in Scouting through this program.

The Westchester-Putnam Council BSA currently serves more than 10,000 boys and girls through the efforts of more than 3,000 volunteer leaders.
