College of New Rochelle expands ministry partnership
The College of New Rochelle and the New York Theological Seminary, which have had a partnership for more than 35 years, will introduce an accelerated program this fall geared toward aspiring clergy and religious leaders.
Students who complete the program will earn a bachelor’s degree from The College of New Rochelle’s School of New Resources, a liberal arts school for adult learners, and a master’s degree from New York Theological Seminary, which is in Harlem.
“The CNR-NYTS partnership provides for a deep learning experience across the two institutions and takes advantage of the best each program has to offer,” said Darryl Jones, dean of the School of New Resources, in a statement.
During the final semesters at CNR, students can complete nine credits at the master”™s level that can be applied to both their undergraduate and graduate programs. New York Theological Seminary’s graduate programs include master’s degrees in divinity, pastoral care and counseling, religious education, leadership and administration, and youth ministry.
“This opportunity provides seasoned and new church leaders from various denominations and faith traditions with enhanced skills and tools in leadership, management and communications to manage their communities and serve their people effectively,” said Tyrone Davis, director of the Archdiocese of New York’s Office of Black Ministry, in a statement. “Many of these communities face complex challenges as they juggle resources to clothe, feed, educate, shelter, care for the sick, and serve the spiritual needs of their parishioners and high-risk populations. I think this program could be a great help.”
