USPS announces release dates for first new stamps of 2023

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has announced the first day of issues for its 2023 stamps.

The initial slate of new first-class Forever stamps will feature the Red Fox (debuting on Jan. 5), the Year of the Rabbit stamp for the annual Lunar New Year issue (Jan. 12), two stamps in the Love series featuring a puppy and kitten (Jan. 19) and author Ernest J. Gaines in the annual Black Heritage series (Jan. 23).

Also being issued will be an additional ounce postage depicting a school bus (Jan. 5), a Priority Mail Express stamp celebrating the Great Smoky Mountains (Jan. 22) and a postcard rate stamp featuring sailboats (Jan. 22).

The USPS will be raising the rates on postage on Jan. 22, 2023, including an increase in the price of a first-class mail Forever stamp from 60 cents to 63 cents.
