Office IT seminars slated

Business owners can explore several topics on digital technology in their offices at a series of free technology seminars in White Plains this fall and winter.

Robert Cioffi, managing partner of Progressive Computing Inc. in Yonkers and Manhattan, will present the Wednesday evening seminars at The Microsoft Store at 125 Westchester Ave. in White Plains. Cioffi, a Microsoft small business specialist, will be joined by other experts on each subject.

Seminar dates and topics are:

Computing in the Cloud, Sept. 18: Defining the Cloud, pros and cons, when and if to convert, and tips on how to choose the right vendor.

IT Security, Oct. 16: Risk comes in the form of outdated software and hardware, human error and intentional crime; business owners will learn how to protect their own data and their clients”™ data.

Computing in a Mobile World, Nov. 13: Working from home, on the road and on multiple devices ”“ learn how to stay connected, stay productive, and keep information secure.

The Dirty Little Secret about Technology, Jan. 15: How and why to properly dispose of old computers, fax machines and office phones.

IT meets HR, Feb. 26: From employee handbooks to rules governing personal devices and social media posts, a discussion of rules and safeguards to consider.

Each seminar will run from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and include a question and answer period.

There is no cost to attend, but attendance is limited and pre-registration for each seminar is required.
