Helping those with disabilities develop job skills

Team Woofgang & Co. helps young people with disabilities achieve vocational skills through the creation of high-quality peanut butter dog treats and handcrafted pet items, which are sold through a retail store in Fairfield and via the nonprofit”™s website.

Amiee Turner took over as executive director in March of 2021. After the Bigelow Center, which the organization had been using for product assembly, was shut down, many members began baking the products from home, meeting on Zoom instead of in person. This year, the organization opened a new production facility, based within the Fairfield Avenue commercial district of Bridgeport”™s Black Rock neighborhood.

The nonprofit works regularly with TransitionCT, an organization that facilitates programs for adults with disabilities, and helps place its members into full-time employment after training with Team Woofgang & Co.
