State Farm named sponsor of Connecticut motorist assistance program

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has named State Farm as the corporate sponsor of its Connecticut Highway Assistance Motorist Patrol. The program, which will be renamed the CTDOT State Farm Safety Patrol, will continue to provide free roadside assistance for minor highway mishaps including providing fuel, changing flat tires, jump-starting vehicles and moving disabled vehicles to the shoulder. The program also clears debris from the highway.

According to a statement issued by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy”™s office, State Farm”™s sponsorship “will now offset the cost to the state to operate the program,” with the rest of the program”™s funds coming from the Federal Highway Administration. The financial aspects of the sponsorship were not disclosed.

State Farm, which is headquartered in Bloomington, Illinois, operates similar programs in 15 other states, including New York.
