Bradley International Airport sees 6.2% spike in passenger ridership

Bradley International Airport saw a 6.2 percent increase in passenger ridership during 2017, according to data released by the Connecticut Airport Authority.

Last year, 6.43 million passengers traveled through the Windsor Locks-based airport, up from 6.06 million one year earlier. The airport authority said  that Bradley has achieved year-over-year passenger growth since 2013, with more than 25 million passengers using the airport during that period, making it New England”™s second-largest airport.

“We take immense pride in the growth that Bradley International Airport is experiencing and the confidence that our passengers continue to place in us,” said airport authority Executive Director Kevin A. Dillon. “Whether we are working to expand the menu of nonstop flights or to enhance the travel experience in our terminal, we”™re always doing it with our passengers in mind. We look forward to building on this excitement and driving continued growth and transformation in 2018.”

During 2017, Bradley expanded its routes with weekday nonstop service by OneJet to Pittsburgh International Airport and nonstop United Airlines service to Denver. Norwegian Air Express launched flights from Bradley to Edinburgh, Scotland, last June, but that service is scheduled to be discontinued in March. Last week, it was announced that Southwest Airlines will begin daily nonstop service between Bradley and St. Louis Lambert International Airport on Aug. 7.
