Frontier seeks to leave Norwalk for Dallas

Frontier Communications (NASDAQ: FYBR) is exploring an exit from its Norwalk headquarters in favor of a new corporate home in Dallas.

The Dallas Business Journal cited a meeting agenda from an upcoming Dallas City Council meeting that stated the company is seeking consideration as an Enterprise Zone project under the Texas Enterprise Zone Act for its existing Dallas office. The company proposed retain a minimum of 500 jobs and committed for more than 600 jobs to be retained or consolidated from another office in Allen, Texas.

As part of the proposal, Frontier would invest more than $7 million to expand and renovate its Dallas space. But the proposal comes with a major string attached: if the company does not get what it is seeking, it will withdraw the offer of moving its headquarters to Dallas and instead shift the Texas jobs and its headquarters site to Tampa, Florida.

Frontier moved to Norwalk in 2015 from Stamford. Its original headquarters was in Minneapolis when the company was formed in 1935.
