A day after announcing that 10,400 management employees have accepted its buyout offer, Verizon said it expects to record a noncash goodwill impairment charge of approximately $4.6 billion.
No customer-facing employees are affected, according to the company.
The Norwalk company’s numbers included the April acquisition of Verizon customers in California, Texas and Florida for $10.54 billion.
Verizon reached a tentative agreement with the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers on new, three-year contracts for 43,000 East wireline employees.
