The inquiry will help "determine whether the companies are meeting their legal obligations and whether any penalties need to be applied," Gov. Ned Lamont said. "The people of Connecticut deserve better than the service they are receiving.”

Energy-efficiency programs and services generated 34,000 jobs and delivered a $1.4 billion increase to the gross state product last year, according to the report.
The property, which is now home to an empty 100,000-square-foot two-story office building, is in the process of being sold for $6.6 million to a limited liability company.

In a brief filed June 4 with the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority, Attorney General George Jepsen called on the authority to reject an electric rate increase request from The United Illuminating (UI) Co.
The study, commissioned by United Technologies Corp., found that investing in a 30 percent improvement in building efficiency would have an internal rate of return of 28.6 percent over a 10-year period – which is four times better than the average corporate bond yield.
As of Nov. 5, FEMA had already allocated $1 million to residents in the state’s four counties that received federal disaster declarations.
