Norwalk is planning to reassess the agency's role, with the possibility that some of its responsibilities could be moved back to the city itself.
When the city was developing its TOD plan for South Norwalk, it discovered 12 different zoning districts within a radius of less than a mile. “It was like, ‘What’s the point of this?’” said Norwalk Redevelopment Agency Executive Director Timothy Sheehan.
“We’re all about figuring out how to work collaboratively with communities and listening to what they want and what they need,” RXR Metropolitan Executive Vice President Seth Pinsky said at the Oct. 4 "Economic Development in Our Urban Hubs" discussion.
Renovations to the Merritt 7 station, replacement of the 120-year-old Walk Bridge – and possibly building a new station in the Wall Street district – are all part of the plan.
