Outgoing Mayor David Martin said he couldn't imagine how either of his successors -- State Rep. Caroline Simmons or Bobby Valentine -- could “mess this up."
“If we take care of the health, then we can reopen the economy stronger,” Mayor David Martin declared.
“We will only release (a Covid vaccine) when it is safe and effective,” Gov. Ned Lamont declared, adding that overcoming some residents’ “vaccine hesitancy” could be a challenge.
The virtual event will also feature welcoming remarks by Mayor David Martin, and will take place at the Residence Inn by Marriott Stamford Downtown on Sept. 30.
The company claims it is "famous for the thick frosting petals that adorn each of our cakes."
While the current version of Gov. Ned Lamont's CT2030 transportation plan estimates its trucks-only tolls component will raise $170-180 million a year for infrastructure improvements, that is only "a small fraction of what is needed,” according to State Sen. Alex Bergstein, D-36th (Greenwich, New Canaan and Stamford),
"Participation has been higher, the energy in the room is better, and she’s putting money in the bank," Chamber Treasurer David Cingari says of Cavanagh, who's been leading the organization for about 15 months.
“We’ve got to hit the elephant in the room – getting our fiscal house in order,” the governor said in his remarks to the Chamber of Commerce. “I just want to get this thing going."
“We’ve changed the face of what happens in downtown and throughout the city, and created a downtown mecca for the region," she says.
"When you look at the growth areas in Fairfield County, it’s all happening in Stamford," said Cavanagh.
"It is time to pass the baton to new leadership.” said Condlin, who will exit on June 30.
“The Chamber of Commerce is always supportive of anything that can bring economic growth – not at all costs, but at good cost -- and that’s what this project would be," says Stamford Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Jack Condlin.
The 700,000-square-foot SoNo Collection mall in Norwalk opens in October 2019, but its impact is already being felt in the region.
