Another Nuvance Health hospital, Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, is also a primary clinical research site for NRG Oncology.
The system’s seven hospitals and 2,600 doctors serve an area that encompasses about 1.5 million residents.

The donation was made by longtime supporters and benefactors Carol and George Bauer of Wilton.
Pronounced “NEW-vance,” the new system will serve 1.5 million residents across New York’s Hudson Valley and western Connecticut and consist of more than 2,600 physicians and 12,000 employees. Projected annual revenues of the system are $2.4 billion.
“I do wish that society and our citizenry would recognize that for insurance to really work, all of us have to distribute the risk over a large population that includes healthy people, so that everyone can be covered," says Dr. John Murphy.
About 700 patients are newly diagnosed with cancer each year at Norwalk Hospital, according to Linda Versea, APRN, executive director oncology service line, Western Connecticut Health Network, to which the hospital belongs.
The trials are being conducted in a partnership between Norwalk and New York's Memorial Sloan Kettering; Norwalk is the first hospital in the state to offer all four trials.
Claudia Gruss also serves as a clinical educator with the Yale-affiliated gastroenterology fellowship program at Norwalk Hospital.
Hospitals statewide earned $464 million in income from nonoperating sources of revenue for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2017, a 10 percent decrease from the previous year.
The fees are collected for a range of services, such as eye surgery and psychotherapy, performed at off-site facilities run by hospitals and health networks.
Formativ Health will handle registration, scheduling and insurance verification, among other duties.
The 250,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to open in 2021, pending city approval, according to the hospital.
