Malloy said the states' initiative will create "a path forward to address climate change on a national basis."
The governor said the settlement funds "will go a long way in helping to improve air quality and protect public health in Connecticut."
The partnership will train students, educators and school administrators on identifying and handling potentially violent behaviors.
"These grants are targeted toward strengthening our towns and cities and fostering growth in our local economies," said Gov. Dannel P. Malloy.
“Climate change is the most significant global threat of our lifetime,” said Malloy during the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco.
"The Republican tax law is an affront to middle-class Connecticut families and a massive giveaway to the wealthiest individuals and largest corporations," said Malloy.
The governor’s request includes FEMA public assistance that would provide affected towns and state agencies federal reimbursement of 75 percent for eligible municipal and state costs.
"He will no doubt go down as the worst administrator in EPA history," said Malloy of Scott Pruitt, who resigned yesterday.
In signing his executive order, Gov. Malloy stated that his action ensures "that we waste no time safeguarding our clean water supply."
"The agreement with hospitals still has some components waiting federal sign-off, but this approval is a key step in the overall arrangement adopted in the budget," said Gov. Malloy.
A coalition of energy-efficiency contractors and advocacy groups have sue the State of Connecticut for diverting $155 million from the state’s energy efficiency programs into the General Fund. The lawsuit argues that funds designated for the Conservation & Load Management, Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, and Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority were raised through an extra fee on electric bills.
Republican Georgia legislators moved to kill a proposed $50 million tax break for the airline following its termination of a long-standing relationship with the National Rifle Association.
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy has proposed paying for this with a 7-cent gas tax increase over four years and the introduction of electronic highway tolls.
