For this round, the Downtown Revitalization Initiative's statewide budget was doubled from $100 million to $200 million, allowing each of New York's 10 economic development councils to nominate two $10 million awardees or one municipality to receive $20 million.
Peekskill’s Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing tonight on a plan to transform the Kiley Youth Center at 709 Main St. into a modern youth facility to be operated by the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester.
Highlights of the initiative in Peekskill include a new Peekskill Art Center, a downtown plaza redesign and a pedestrian and cyclist path to connect the waterfront and central business district.

"Investment in these projects will improve connectivity, linking downtown with the Lincoln Avenue Corridor, provide residents with new recreational opportunities, and enhance quality of life," said Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul.
The city plans to use the funding to better link a corridor surrounding Lincoln Avenue near the city's downtown to its growing Main Street.
The city won the second round of the annual grant competition by focusing on the Uptown Stockade Business District, a historic section of the city that has seen an influx of small businesses and development.
Gov. Cuomo announced Sept. 20 that the city will receive $10 million in funding and investments from the state's Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
