The bills “increase costs for small businesses, create barriers to job growth ... and unnecessarily hamper Connecticut’s economic recovery,” according to the organizations.
The convention business “will take a while before coming back,” said Robert Murdock, president of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau. “It’s really all about safety right now, and getting the virus under control.”
Reopening on July 1, the 361-room/12-suite hotel is in the midst of rehiring most of the 150 employees it furloughed since closing on March 24.
"Right now, we have a tremendous shortage of staffing across the whole hospitality sector," said Kozlowski.
The program’s mission is to work more closely with regional groups to help support Connecticut’s $14 billion tourism industry.
