Based at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, the team was founded in 1994 when Pennsylvania”™s Erie Sailors relocated to the Hudson Valley. The Renegades were part of Class A Short Season New York”“Penn League from 1994 until this year, when the league was terminated.

The team is operated by the Goldklang Group, which also ran another Yankees minor league team, the Charleston Riverdogs in South Carolina. As part of this transaction, the Riverdogs are being dropped from the Yankees organization.

“The determination was made that Hudson Valley would be best for our players, especially given the long-term and tremendously beneficial relationship we have had with Marvin Goldklang, who is a longstanding partner and associate of the Steinbrenner family and the Yankees,” the Yankees said in a press release.

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro welcomed the news and predicted the Renegades will contribute future legends to the Yankees.

“The next generation of Yankee stars ”“ ballplayers who will look to etch their names in Yankees history alongside legends like Ruth, DiMaggio, Mantle and Jeter ”“ will take the field as professionals right here in Dutchess County,” Molinaro said in a statement.
