2021 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show heads to Tarrytown

The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is moving in 2021 from Madison Square Garden to the grounds of the Lyndhurst estate in Tarrytown.

It will be held June 12-13, and will mark the first time in the dog show”™s 145-year history that it is not taking place in New York City. In another first, the Best in Show competition will be televised live on Fox Sports.

Three breeds newly recognized by the American Kennel Club will be joining the 208 eligible breeds at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 2021: The Barbet from France, the Belgian Laekenois and the Dogo Argentino.

“We are excited to host the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Lyndhurst, a unique icon of American culture with its park-like landscape and majestic castle overlooking the Hudson River,” said Westminster Kennel Club President Charlton Reynders III. “The wide-open outdoor space at this extraordinary venue allows us to hold a dog show safely while following current social distancing guidelines and public health regulations.”
