Massage studio to open in White Plains
A Colorado-based massage therapy business is opening its first Westchester franchise this month at 1 N. Broadway in downtown White Plains.
Elements Massage in White Plains, a franchise of  Elements Therapeutic Massage Inc., which has 170 locations nationwide, is owned and operated by Dobbs Ferry residents Guillermo and Patty Franco.
The couple plans to provide tailored massage therapy services, welcoming walk-in visits, appointments and membership sign-ups.
Patty Franco said the massage therapy studio will offer membership programs with discounted prices per visit. Members and first-time visitors will receive a $30 discount, down from $99 to $69, for a 55-minute session.
“The average person is on a tight budget, and it’s hard to pay $100 to $150 for a massage,” Franco said. “We want to run an efficient operation at reasonable price points.”
The renovation project, which Patty Franco said cost “hundreds of thousands of dollars,” lasted about eight weeks and was  completed last month. When the owners found the space, which had been vacant for five to six years, they signed a lease with White Plains-based Heyman Properties Inc.
“There’s great visibility in our location with an extended stay hotel Cambria Suites across the street looking to open sometime this year,” Franco said. “The Panera Bread next door provides foot traffic that also gives us great visibility. As soon as our sign went up, people have been walking in and booking appointments and showing a lot of interest.”
The business will be open seven days a week. Eight massage therapists will run the daily operations, and the studio plans to hire a few more therapists this year, Franco said.
