Yorktown police distance themselves from online hoodie sales

The Yorktown Police Department is warning residents that it is not associated with the online sale of a hoodie featuring the department”™s logo.

The hoodie is being sold on the Monzano24.com e-commerce site. While the sale page makes no reference to the product being connected to a police fundraiser, the Yorktown Police Department raised concern that consumers would mistakenly believe the product was being used for fundraising purposes.

“Monzano24 is not acting on our behalf (or in our opinion, in good faith, if this was mentioned as a fundraiser),” said the department on its Facebook page. “Also, we never contact the public or solicit anyone to contact the public via the phone or email, soliciting funds. You receive the mailer once per year from the awesome Yorktown PBA via snail mail and that’s it.”

The department also took umbrage at the product on sale, adding, “It looks like crap anyway (again, in our opinion).”
