MasterCard launches coupon service for parking kiosks
Purchase-based MasterCard Inc., in conjunction with parking management company Parkeon, on Tuesday launched City Connector, an electronic couponing platform that offers services from local businesses through on-street parking meters.
The service, powered by MasterCard’s Enterprise Offers Platform, allows customers to pay for parking while also viewing offers on electronic parking meters and to print out coupons that can be redeemed at local businesses. Stores and restaurants using the service can publish offers and created customized advertising campaigns. The coupons are available to drivers paying for parking as well as pedestrians.
MasterCard said the service launched exclusively in Las Vegas, where 16 interactive kiosks went live Tuesday. In a press release, MasterCard did not specify when and if the City Connector service would be implemented in other cities.
“MasterCard is at the heart of smart city development. We partner with innovative municipalities and companies around the world to realize unfulfilled potential across cities, ultimately transforming the urban experience for citizens and visitors,” said Will Judge, head of urban mobility at MasterCard, in a statement.
Parkeon, based in Paris, operates its parking and ticketing systems and equipment in more than 4,000 cities worldwide.
“In partnership with MasterCard, we have developed a solution that is truly unique; City Connector has the potential to enhance how people interact in cities and we look forward to bringing this new service to other cities across the globe,” Parkeon CEO Bertrand Barthelemy said in a statement.
