Lord & Taylor coming to Ridge Hill

Lord & Taylor LLC, the New York fashion retailer, will open its first full-line store in a decade as an anchor tenant at Westchester”™s Ridge Hill under construction in Yonkers.

The 80,000-square-foot building, scheduled for a grand opening in 2012, will showcase the retailer”™s latest store design and offer a mix of fashion, accessories, beauty and fragrance brands as well as gifts and home accessories. Lord & Taylor last opened a full-line store in 2001 in Alexandria, Va.

Brendan Hoffman, Lord & Taylor president and CEO, called Ridge Hill, a 1.3-million-square-foot mixed-use development of Brooklyn-based Forest City Ratner Cos., “the perfect location for Lord & Taylor to further service our southern Westchester customers.” Hoffman said he was encouraged by the Yonkers site”™s business potential.

Charles A. Ratner, president and CEO of Forest City Enterprises Inc., the developer”™s parent company in Cleveland, Ohio, said Lord & Taylor”™s lease signing “is a major step forward for Westchester”™s Ridge Hill and demonstrates the momentum building for this great project.” Project construction is due to be completed in 2011.

The new Yonkers store will be the 11th Lord & Taylor location in New York. Among Ridge Hill”™s signed retail and restaurant tenants, the retailer joins Whole Foods, L.L.Bean, Cinema De Lux, REI, Sephora, Orvis, Dick”™s Sporting Goods, The Cheesecake Factory, Yard House, Texas de Brazil and Brio Tuscan Grille. Westmed Medical Group plans to open an 80,000-square-foot medical office there, occupying half of the commercial office space planned for the 81-acre site. A 162-unit condominium tower, Monarch at Ridge Hill, is scheduled to open in 2011.

Yonkers Mayor Philip Amicone called the Lord & Taylor signing “a clear indication that our city will be at the forefront in leading our region out of economic recession.”
