Fragrance co. sold, closing Yonkers plant
Belmay Inc., a global fragrance manufacturer, is closing its Yonkers plant, following its sale to Symrise, a German-based producer of flavors and fragrances.
The company filed a WARN notice on Tuesday, announcing it is laying off all 60 employees at its plant at 200 Corporate Blvd. South in Yonkers, when the plant closes in June.
Symrise announced its acquisition of the company March 4, taking over Belmay”™s global fragrance activities. Last year, Symrise took over Belmay”™s Brazilian fragrance business.
Belmay generated fragrance sales of $60 million in the 2012 fiscal year. Symrise said it would keep the sale price confidential.
