The 19,000-square-foot store is the 20th Aldi location in Connecticut and the first in lower Fairfield County; an Aldi store in Danbury opened in August 2012. The new location’s aisles are now being filled with merchandise and the store is advertising for employees.

The store and the neighboring Floor & Decor retailer, which opened on June 21, share the 101,000-square-foot site of a Kohl”™s department store that closed last October after more than two decades of operation.

Prior to Kohl”™s, the property was home to the now-defunct Caldor department store. Earlier in its life, the 57-year-old property”™s tenants were another pair of long-gone businesses: PathMart Food Store and Arlan”™s department store.
