Ridgefield restaurant in settlement over ADA complaint
The Ridgefield restaurant Baja Cocina reached a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice to make itself more accessible for people with mobility disabilities.
The issue involved a complaint filed with the U.S. Department of Justice that the restaurant ran afoul of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements on access. The settlement requires Ridgefield Taco LLC, the restaurant”™s owner, works with its landlord to provide an accessible parking space and provide curbside service to persons with mobility disabilities. It will also need to ensure that accessible dining surfaces are provided in its outdoor dining area while ADA-compliant signage and installations are added to its restroom facilities.
The settlement did not require litigation or a fine against the restaurant, which is located at 426 Main St. The settlement will remain in effect for three years, and Baja Cocina must submit certifications concerning its compliance to the U.S. Attorney”™s Office for the District of Connecticut every six months until it has fully complied with the agreement.
