Greenwich’s MacDuff’s Public House to close after 18 years

MacDuff’s Public House, a staple of downtown Greenwich”™s dining scene, announced it will be closing on June 24 after 18 years in business.

Owner Scott Sievwright announced on Facebook this week that the business will officially close on June 24.

“As the owner of this establishment, it is the hardest decision I have had to make, but unfortunate circumstances have led us to this point,” said Scott Sievwright in a Facebook posting. “The building is going up for sale and we are unable to renew our lease.”

Sievwright stated his business at 99 Railroad Ave. “has become more than just a restaurant. It has been a gathering place for friends, families, and the community. We have taken great pride in providing exceptional dining experiences and creating lasting memories. The loyalty and support we have received from our customers, employees, friends and family have been invaluable.”

While Sievwright did not preview what his future plans will be, he add, “But in typical MacDuff”™s fashion I don”™t want to go out with a whimper, I would like you all to come out and celebrate what we have had for the last 18 years. We will be putting all of our best specials on in the coming weeks and there will be multiple goodbye parties over the next few weeks with some of our favorite bands.”
