Scarsdale and Darien ranked among nation’s most affluent small cities

Municipalities in Westchester and Fairfield counties are among the top 25 in the newly published study “Most Affluent Small Cities in America,” compiled by AdvisorSmith, a business insurance resource.

In a data analysis of localities with populations between 10,000 and 30,000, Scarsdale was part of a five-way tie for the most affluent small city. Scarsdale, with a population of 17,837, had a median household income of more than $250,000; in comparison, the national median household income was $68,703.

Darien, with a population of 21,742, ranked ninth with a median household income of $232,523. Westport, with a population of 28,016, ranked 17th with a median household income of $206,466. Rye, with a population of 15,820, ranked 24th with a median household income of $192,688.
