Ridgefield’s Vanderbilt mansion sells for $4.3M

The 1920s Georgian Colonial mansion at 17 Rippowam Road in Ridgefield that was once owned by the prominent Vanderbilt family has sold in an off-market transaction for $4.3 million.

According to Carol Hanlon, a global luxury specialist affiliated with the Coldwell Banker Realty office in Ridgefield and the agent who coordinated the sale, this is the highest-priced listing sold to date in Ridgefield for 2023.

“It was a pleasure to represent this gorgeous estate and historic home, which was long associated with one of Ridgefield’s most notable residents. This opulent home blends grand Jazz Age luxury with state-of-the-art features,” said Hanlon.

The 4.5-acre property, known as Iradell Farm, includes a 6,823-square-foot house built in 1920 that features four bedrooms, five full bathrooms, a three-car garage, gym and wine cellar. The property last sold in 2015 for $1.25 million and has been on and off the market since 2019.

The property was the home of Consuelo Vanderbilt, the great-great granddaughter of railroad and shipping magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt. She gained prominence as a breeder of Skye terriers. She passed away at the property in 2011 at the age of 107.
