Douglas Elliman launches sports and entertainment division

Douglas Elliman Real Estate has launched a new international division to provide brokerage services to ultra-high-net-worth clients in the sports and entertainment industries, the New York City-based company announced.

Douglas Elliman Sports & Entertainment is the first division of its kind to be created within a major real estate company, according to the firm. The division”™s multinational team of real estate agents will be led by broker Darren Weiner as managing director.

Douglas Elliman officials said the launch builds on the company”™s extensive history of working with professional athletes and celebrities through their multiple real estate transactions. During this year”™s NBA season, the firm partnered with the New York Knicks and Madison Square Garden to brand that arena”™s most iconic “real estate” as Douglas Elliman Celebrity Row.

Dottie Herman, president and CEO of Douglas Elliman, in the announcement said the sports and entertainment division “was a natural extension of our brand.”

Douglas Elliman Sports & Entertainment offers services for buying, selling and leasing residential properties and select commercial properties around the world. In addition to the division”™s client base of potential buyers and tenants, it maintains deep relationships with owners of high-value real estate to provide inventory, the company said.

Howard M. Lorber, chairman of Douglas Elliman Real Estate, in the announcement said the sports and entertainment division “marks an important milestone in the evolution of our business model. Backed by our global alliance with Knight Frank Residential, spanning 55 countries, we are able to leverage the strength of our network and quickly adapt to the unique needs of our clients, executing the same level of service in each of our markets worldwide.”

The 104-year-old Douglas Elliman brokerage expanded into Westchester County and the  suburban upscale housing market in 2011 and operates offices in Armonk, Bedford, Chappaqua, Katonah, Pleasantville and Scarsdale.
