Commercial real estate attorney Joshua Stein presents ‘New Guide to Ground Leases’

New York City-based commercial real estate attorney Joshua Stein has published his three-volume “New Guide to Ground Leases,” an updated edition of the ground leasing treatise he published nearly 20 years ago.

According to Stein, the new work offers insight on dealing with “recent disastrous rent increases” and how future rent adjustments can protect the landlord while preserving the value of the tenant’s position. Stein also considers how financing fits into a ground lease structure and dealing with landlord bankruptcies.

“The treatise focuses on ground lease transactions and negotiations, not on court decisions,” said Stein’s promotional announcement. “It is indispensable to attorneys and businesspeople who negotiate sophisticated ground lease transactions, providing helpful checklists and drafting tips, hundreds of comments on pressure points and issue resolutions, advice on post-closing administration, and sample language for nearly every topic that might arise.”

Buyers can also obtain free electronic versions of the books and template documents, formatted in Microsoft Word and ready to edit and use in transactions. More information is available on Stein’s website.
