1930 mansion in Darien listed for $5.8M

A 1930 Georgian stone manor home in Darien has been listed for $5.8 million.

The 7,207-square-foot home on a 4.26-acre property at 225 Tokeneke Road was designed by the renowned architect William Lawrence Bottomley as the residence of Walker D. Hines, who was the second Director General of the United States Railroad Administration under President Woodrow Wilson. The residence has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms while the grounds include a heated pool, lighted sports and paddle tennis courts, gardens and stone terraces.

In the years since the house was built, the property has only changed hands twice ”“ the last transaction was in March 2010 for $2.7 million.
