SALVATION ARMY RESPONDS TO COVID-19

The Salvation Army”™s Emergency Disaster Services Department is continuing to provide emergency food to those in need as a result of COVID-19. As of May 27, 665,997 meals have been provided in Connecticut alone. Hub locations have been operating in Ashford, Hartford, New Haven, Waterbury and Bridgeport, sorting and distributing emergency food boxes to Salvation Army locations throughout the state. To ensure adequate family meals, the organization is purchasing wholesale foods from three vendors to supplement items from Foodshare, Connecticut Food Bank and many public and private donations.
The Salvation Army is uniquely positioned to meet needs in times of disaster and during the COVID-19 crisis through its Emergency Disaster Services. It is serving in every zip code in Connecticut.
