Salerno’s of Stratford opens takeout window

There appears to be a new rule of the COVID-19 era: When one door closes, a new window opens. In this case, a longtime Stratford staple has responded to Gov. Ned Lamont”™s COVID-19 edict for closing restaurants by turning one of its dining room windows into a takeout center.

Salerno”™s at 1398 Barnum Ave. is making its full menu available for walk-up ordering, both with individual grab-and-go orders and with trays for family meals that can feed between eight and 20 people.

Salerno”™s has installed a temporary canopy over the window to protect customers from inclement weather.

Salerno”™s is also using social media to encourage a continued business flow, creating its own version of “Keep Calm and Carry On” with a meme that states: “Beat the Virus! Eat at Home! Salerno”™s will help you stay home.”
