Greenwich event to honor Israeli soldiers
More than 600 people are expected to attend the Friends of the Israel Defense Forces Westchester and Connecticut Gala, titled “A Night of Heroes,” at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich on Nov. 3 at 5:30 p.m. to salute Israel”™s members of the armed forces and contribute to FIDF”™s well-being and educational programs.
Israeli rocket scientist Ari Sacher, who works in the Air Superiority Systems Division at Rafael, where he develops new air-defense systems and has led the Iron Dome project, will be the event”™s keynote speaker. A VIP reception with Sacher for sponsors will take place before the gala.
Co-chairing the event are Elise Kamen and Steven Grossblatt; Jennifer and Mickey Lowitt; as well as honorary co-chairs, Lisa and Michael Leffell.
Guests will include: FIDF Chairman Peter Weintraub; Ellen Weintraub; FIDF National Board member Wendy Moskowitz; FIDF Tristate Executive Director Galit Brichta; and FIDF Westchester/Connecticut Director Anat Chavkin.
A group of active-duty IDF soldiers will participate in the gala.
The Israeli Air Force Musical Ensemble will perform and Westchester native Annie Rubinson will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
“Our Westchester/Connecticut gala is an opportunity for our local supporters to shake hands with the brave men and women of the IDF who directly benefit from FIDF”™s programs,” Chavkin said. “Our guests will have a chance to hear from Ari Sacher, and personally thank the brave soldiers who risk everything to defend Israel ”“ and Jews worldwide.”
