AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST JOINS BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF MOUNT VERNON
Dr. Traci E. Alexander has joined the staff of the Boys & Girls Club of Mount Vernon as director of development. She will be responsible for leading the club”™s plan to generate resources and support for one of the leading youth development organizations in the greater New York metro area.
A prominent media pioneer, award-winning journalist and professor in the fields of communication and leadership development for more than 30 years, Alexander”™s work in fundraising and business development has been dedicated to advance social justice for women of color and to support undeserved and marginalized communities. She has helped raise visibility and fundraising campaigns for nonprofit organizations across the country.
“Our club has had a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of current and former youth in the Mount Vernon community for over 100 years and we have ambitious plans to grow in the future” said Rob Potack, club board chair. “It is critically important for our organization to have a development executive with an entrepreneurial spirit, fundraising know-how and a successful track record of raising awareness and funding”¦.”
Alexander was the first African American woman to anchor the evening news for ABC in central Louisiana. Over the course of her career, she has interviewed hundreds of high-profile leaders, including President Barack Obama. She is also the creator and executive producer of the LITerature Lounge that supports her mission to increase the number of men and women of color to attain an advanced degree in higher education.
