Sen. Stewart-Cousins to join Women’s Hall of Fame
State Sen. Andrea Stewart-Cousins will be inducted into the Westchester Women”™s Hall of Fame on Friday, May 6, at 12:15 p.m. at the Westchester Marriott, 670 White Plains Rd., Tarrytown.
The award is presented by the Women”™s Research and Education Fund, a nonprofit organization that promotes equality and justice for women in Westchester County through training, advocacy and recognition of their achievements.
Stewart-Cousins, a resident of Yonkers, has served in the State Senate since 2007, representing the 35th District. According to a statement from the organization, Stewart-Cousins “has espoused the values of empathy, empowerment and civic engagement. These values, along with her strong belief in advocating for the underserved and championing the needs of working families, has distinguished her as a trailblazer.”
The induction ceremony is part of the “In the Company of Women” event held by the YWCA White Plains and Central Westchester and the Women”™s Research and Education Fund.
